Turvapaikka on teos, joka huokuu maan voimaa ja luonnon suojaa. Sen kerroksellinen pinta ja orgaaniset muodot kutsuvat astumaan sisään paikkaan, jossa ihminen voi vetäytyä turvaan – sekä fyysisesti että henkisesti. Teoksessa näkyy maan lämpö ja metsän syvyys, mutta myös pieniä, herkkiä väripilkkuja, kuin kukkia, jotka puhkeavat esiin suojaisessa piilopaikassa.

Väripaletti rakentuu luonnon omista sävyistä: ruskean ja okran maasta, sammalen vihreästä ja vanamon hennosta pinkistä. Kerrostuneet tekstuurit luovat pinnan, joka muistuttaa turvapaikan monikerroksista olemusta – suojaa, rauhaa ja elämää kantavaa voimaa.
